Pestizide und Parkinson

Nach neuesten Erkenntnissen der Forschung haben Menschen, die häufig Kontakt mit Pestiziden haben, ein um 70 Prozent erhöhtes Risiko, an Morbus Parkinson zu erkranken.

Schon früher haben Studien gezeigt dass z.B. Organophosphate neurotoxisch sind und bei der Entstehung von Parkinson eine Rolle spielen können.

Besonders häufig waren in den Vergleichzahlen der Studie in der Landwirtschaft Tätige von Parkinson betroffen.

There are lots of man-made pesticides that attack the neurological system. Many of the fundamental building blocks of life, be it hormones or neurotransmitters, are exactly the same in all living organisms. Aber die Pestizide betreffen nicht nur die unmittelbaren Verwender, sondern jeden der damit in Berührung kommt.

Passenderweise hat die britische Regierung gerade Lebensmittel auf Pestizidrückstände untersuchen lassen.

Studies published last week by the Government's Pesticides Residues Committee found contamination in 39 per cent of food sold in the high street. A second, looking at free fruit given out in schools, found an even higher proportion - 66 per cent - contained one or more residues.

Ich glaube, Feed Me Better hat noch einiges vor sich.

Mögliche Quellen von toxischen Substanzen sind neben Insektiziden und Unkrautvernichtern, die auch in privaten Gärten zu finden sind, Mückensprays und Ameisenpulver - und natürlich die Nahrung. Es lohnt sich also durchaus, mehr Bio-Lebensmittel zu kaufen (und zu produzieren - auch für die Gesundheit der Bauern!).

Pesticides, by their very nature, are designed to kill living organisms. People can be exposed to these chemicals via air, water, contaminated surfaces and food. Once pesticides have been absorbed, they can enter the blood stream and be carried throughout the body. Babies, children, pregnant women, the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions are particularly vulnerable to the effects.
