Die Regierung Taiwans hat angekündigt, für die Aufstockung ihrer eigenen Notvorräte 6 kg eines Medikamentes zu produzieren, das zu 99% dem patentierten antiviralen Mittel Tamiflu des Pharmakonzerns Roche gleicht. Sie betonte, das Produkt solle nicht kommerziell vermarktet werden. Zuvor hatten Gespräche mit Roche über eine Lizenzproduktion stattgefunden, die aber wohl gescheitert sind.
"It means we have shown our goodwill to Roche and we appreciate their patent. But to protect our people is the utmost important thing." sagte ein Vertreter der taiwanesischen Gesundheitsbehörde. (via BBC Health)
Das
National Health Institute of Taiwan gab bekannt, das Medikament schneller und deutlich preisgünstiger als Roche produzieren zu können.
